Hopes and Fears
I learned and thought about the connection between hopes and fears and how they’re two sides of the same coin. If you want to get rid of your fears, you also need to get rid of your hopes.
It is generally believed that hope is a good thing, when you’ve lost it all, at least you can have hope. If we are hopeless or faced with a hopeless situation, it is often seen as synonymous with dispair (one of the German translations for it is hopelesssness).
But to the same extent that fear might hinder you to live in and enjoy the moment, hope can do the same. The one—fear—is the feeling not wanting the current situation to change to the worse, the other side—hope—is wanting things to change to the better. Both states are wanting things to be different than they are right now.
